Trump Blames Powell for Housing Crisis as Markets Push for Fed Rate Cuts
President TRUMP has renewed his criticism of Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell, accusing him of delaying rate cuts and exacerbating the housing market's struggles. With mortgage rates, interest rates, and even cryptocurrencies caught in the crossfire, the stakes are high.
In a recent post on Truth Social, Trump claimed Powell is 'crushing the housing market,' arguing that inflation is under control and all signs point to a significant rate cut. 'Too late is a disaster,' he added. James Fishback, CEO of Azoria Investments, echoed these concerns, noting that mortgage rates spiked last year due to unmet market expectations for deeper Fed cuts.
Fishback highlighted that interest rate futures currently price in minimal Fed action, despite inflation hitting a four-year low and CPI six-month annualized at 1.9%. The disconnect between market expectations and Fed policy continues to fuel volatility across asset classes, including digital currencies.
